Fan Boren, a Canadian student in our college was selected as the representative of our university to attend the "Chinese Bridge" Global Chinese Conference for Foreigners 2014. Thanks to his solid Chinese language foundation, profound knowledge on China’s culture and history and his positive attitude, he successfully passed a series of tests in the final competition held in Beijing. After numerous rounds of selection, he became one of the top 12 foreign students, standing out from over 80 foreign students from various universities across the country. In the semi-final where six contestants competed for three spots, he made himself the first one to get the ticket to the final competition, making a historical breakthrough and winning honors to our university.
The Chinese Bridge has attracted nearly 10,000 foreigners to participate. After competitive auditions in 13 regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Dalian, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xiamen, Guilin and Nanjing, around 100 contestants from 39 countries successfully entered the second round.
FAN Boren does not only make the best performance in our university’s history by entering the final competition, it also showcased a remarkable improvement of the quality of our international education under the general trend of internationalization. The Publicity Department of Chengdu municipal government has also attached a great attention to his entrance into the final competition. Numerous media including CCTV and Chengdu TV made news report and conducted interviews, which will play a positive role to improve the national and even global impact of SWUFE.
At 19:25 on September 20th, Friday night, CCTV-4 will broadcast the final competition of "Chinese Bridge" Global Chinese Conference for Foreigners 2014.
