Application Notice for SWUFE 2022 Chinese Government Scholarship 

Category A Program

(The Chinese text of this notice shall be deemed the original. In the event of any dispute or misunderstanding as to the interpretation of the language or terms in this article, the Chinese language version shall prevail.)

. Scholarship Categories

1. Bilateral Program

The program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. Applicants shall submit applications to the dispatching department (Chinese embassies or consulates) of their home countries.

2. Designated Scholarship Programs

These programs are set up in accordance with cooperation agreements between China and international organizations and institutions. Applicants shall submit applications to the international organizations and institutions concerned.

Ⅲ. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport in accordance with the Nationality Law of The People’s Republic of China, and meet the requirements set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of The PRC and other relevant regulations; be in good health.

2. Applicants must abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese Government and local government, as well as regulations of SWUFE.

3. Education background and age limit (before September 1st, 2022)

(1) Applicants for undergraduate programs should be at the age between 18 to 25 with a completed high school degree;

(2) Applicants for master’s programs should be at the age between 18 to 35 with a completed bachelor’s degree;

(3) Applicants for doctoral programs should be at the age between 18 to 40 with a completed master’s degree;

(4) Applicants for general scholar programs should be at the age between 18 to 45 with a high school diploma (or above);

(5) Applicants for senior scholar programs should be at the age between 18 to 50 with a completed master’s degree or being an associate professor (or above).

. Academic Programs and Language of Instruction

. Application Procedures and Documents

Step 1. Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of the home country for scholarship opportunity;

Step 2. Apply to SWUFE for Pre-admission Letter once recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate;

Visit SWUFE Online Application System ( http://swufe.17gz.org), fill in the application form, and upload required documents as below:

(1) Passport photo taken within 6 months;

(2) Notarized highest educational degree or diploma certificate;

If the applicant has not obtained the degree yet, they should provide an original official letter that states this student will obtain the degree before August 25th, 2022. This letter should be issued by the applicants current school.

(3) Complete highest educational transcript;

(4) A Study Plan or Research Proposal;

This should be a minimum of 200 words for undergraduate students, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for graduate students.

(5) Recommendation Letters;

Applicants for the graduate programs or the senior scholar programs must submit two recommendation letters signed by professors, associate professors, or people with relevant academic titles in related academic fields.

(6) A copy of valid language certificate (if available);

(7) First page of applicant’s personal passport;

Applicants shall submit a clear scanned copy of personal passport that will not expire on or before March 1st, 2023. If the validity of the current passport does not meet the requirement, please apply for a new passport before submitting the application. For applicants who cannot apply for passports before submitting their applications due to objective reasons, with the permission of dispatching authorities, they may submit scanned copies of identity certificates or official documents containing the applicants' "English name, Gender, Nationality, Date of Birth" and other information.

(8) Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (Attachment 2).

The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

(9) Non-Criminal Record

Applicants shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. If applicants could not get the record from the local public security authority, then shall sign the Commitment Letter of Non-Criminal Record (Attachment 3) and upload it in the application system instead of Non-Criminal Record.

Step 3. Complete the online application procedure at the Chinese Government Scholarship System;

Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org and click “Application Online” to log in and submit an online application. Applicants should consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of their home countries for application instructions and Agency Number;

Step 4. Submit all application documents to the dispatching authorities of the home country before the deadline.

Important Notes

All documents should be presented in Chinese or English. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

Applicants shall guarantee the application information and documents are correct, valid, and authentic. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by any invalid or inauthentic documents/information.

. Selection and Notification

1. SWUFE will review scholarship applications and offer Pre-admission Letter to selected candidates.

2. Application documents of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be considered by CSC for eligibility and qualification. Ineligible or incomplete applications will not be considered.

3. Qualified applications will be sent to universities for placement. Based on various factors, such as the different scholarship funding requirements of every country, the host university's teaching capacity, study length, and applicants’ criteria, CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments/changes to the candidate’s host university, the field of study, supporting categories and duration of the scholarship. Applications enclosed with the Pre-admission Letter will be sent to the universities that issued that Letter for placement confirmation.

4. After placement confirmation by Chinese universities, CSC reviews the placement results and approves the List of Scholarship Recipients. Scholarship recipients will get Chinese Government Scholarships to study in the designated university with approval by CSC.

5. CSC will send the admission documents to the Chinese embassy or consulate-general. The Chinese embassy or consulate-general will send the admission documents to the dispatching authorities or scholarship recipients.

Important Notes

Each scholarship recipient will be granted no more than one scholarship.

Scholarship recipients shall not change the host university, field of study, or duration of study stipulated on the Admission Letter after starting their study.

The scholarship will not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline.

. Regulations

1. Awarded students must study as full-time students and abide by all the rules and regulations at SWUFE.

2. Awarded students must participate in annual reassessment based on the requirements of CSC and SWUFE. Students will continue to have the scholarship after they pass the annual reassessment. If not, the scholarship will be paused or terminated.
