Application for the Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students

In order to push forward the educational exchange and cooperation between the City of Chengdu and its international sister cities (including the international friendly and cooperative cities, hereinafter referred to as Sister Cities collectively), between China and “The Belt and Road” countries, as well as attract more international students to study in higher education institutions located in Chengdu City, Chengdu local government sets up “Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students”, including “Government Scholarship for International Students from Chengdu Sister Cities” and “Government Scholarship for International Students from ‘The Belt and Road’ Countries”. The application of scholarship starts now, and the application information is as follows:

Basic Requirements:

The Requirements for “Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students from Chengdu Sister Cities”:

1) Applicants should be citizens from the sister cities with foreign nationalities, friendly to china and in good health.

2) Applicants should abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese governments, and have good performance in China.

3) Applicants should have the right attitude to study, without breaking school rules and disciplines and having good academic performance.

4) Applicants should be SWUFE current students, and study at least one semester in the university.

5) Applicants should be born in or have studied, worked or lived in the Sister Cities of Chengdu City and hold the official confirmation letters issued by related departments in Sister Cities (in change of international affairs) . Please review the list of Sister Cities and Example of Confirmation Letter in the attachment 1 & 2.

The Requirements for “Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students from ‘The Belt and Road’ Countries”:

1) Applicants should be citizens from “The Belt and Road” countries with foreign nationalities, friendly to china and in good health; (Please go to the website https://eng.yidaiyilu.gov.cn/info/iList.jsp?cat_id=10076 to check “The Belt and Road” countries)

2) Applicants should abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese governments, and have good performance in China.

3) Applicants should have the right attitude to study, without breaking university rules and disciplines and having good academic performance.

4) Applicants should be SWUFE current students, and study at least one semester in the university.

5) Applicants who are studying bachelor degree program in Chinese must have passed HSK 4. Applicants who are studying master or PhD degree program in Chinese must have passed HSK 5. Applicants who are studying bachelor degree program in Chinese must get IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80. Applicants who are studying master or PhD degree program in English must get IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 95. Chinese language students must have 90% attendance in last semester.


Notes:

l International students who have been awarded any other types of government or university scholarship for International Students, or have been awarded this scholarship in three years, are not eligible to apply for the Scholarship.

l The applicants only can choose one Chengdu government scholarship to apply, and cannot apply for both of Chengdu government scholarships for international students.


Scholarship Details:

PhD Program students: RMB 30,000/Year, with the period of no more than three years.

Master’s Program students: RMB 25,000/Year, with the period of no more than three years.

Bachelor Program students: RMB 20,000/Year, with the period of no more than four years.

Non-Degree Program students (Chinese language students): 1,000 Yuan/Month with the maximum of no more than 10,000 Yuan/Year carried out if they are approved by the evaluation team based on the specific situations of the current year. (July and August are not included.) Non-Degree students are not eligible to apply for the Scholarship within three years from the year they are awarded the one-off incentive.


ATTENTION: *Semi-annual Review is required for awardees, and the scholarship is granted in the end of each semester.

Application Period:

September 14th to September 24th, 2021. (Any overdue application will not be accepted)

2. The Application Documents for “Government Scholarship for International Students from ‘The Belt and Road’ Countries”:

1) TWO completed application forms for Chengdu “The Belt and Road” Government Scholarship. (Please see the attachment 3)

2) One photocopy of your passport;

3) One original transcript;

4) One copy of your language proficiency certificate (HSK or TOEFL or IELTS).


Application Procedures:

Applicants should complete Application Form for Chengdu Government Scholarship, and submit together with other application materials to Student Affairs Office (Office 1021 of Gezhi Building in Liulin Campus; Office 206 of Boxue 2nd Building in Guanghua Campus) of CIE before the deadline.
