On June 9, in order to welcome the 31st FISU World University Games, decorate the campus with international elements, and deepen the friendship between Chinese and international students, the 6th International Festival themed "SWUFE Vitality / World Diversity" was grandly held in Liulin Campus. LI Yongqiang, Vice President of SWUFE, and HU Xiao, Deputy Director of the Exit & Entry Administration Division of Chengdu PSB attended the opening ceremony. The leaders of various SWUFE schools and departments including the College of International Education, Youth League Committee, School of Sports, Research Institute of Economics and Management attended the opening ceremony as well.
The opening ceremony started in the short video of “Moments of Sports – SWUFE International Students During the Past Years”. In his speech, LI Yongqiang reviewed the vigorous development of SWUFE’s international education in recent years, expressed his gratitude to the international students and staff who made outstanding contributions in the great fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed his congratulations to the event. LI Yongqiang pointed out the university hoped that the teachers and students of SWUFE have a stronger awareness of opening-up and a broader vision of globalization, thus to create a more comprehensive international atmosphere. At the opening ceremony, SWUFE international students who were temporarily unable to return to China also sent back their love and wishes for the 6th International Festival via video.
Further on the tradition of exciting stage performances and yummy global cuisines, the 6th International Festival has introduced many sports competitions and fun games which greatly enriched the interactivity and attractiveness. With the ongoing basketball, badminton, and rock climbing competitions and various games, the Chinese and international students shared laughter and cheers all day long.
As a landsmark event of SWUFE’s internationalization work, since 2015, the International Festival has gathered Chinese and international students and promoted cultural exchanges. It has received positive responses and extensive participation from various departments and schools of SWUFE. This year, the successful holding of the 6th International Festival is a concentrated display of colorful multi-culture and a significant exploration of advancing international development.
