On the occasion of the 70th birthday of the People’s Republic of China, SWUFE also welcomed a newintakeof international students. On September 5, 2019, the opening ceremony for international students in the fall semester of the 2019-20 academic year was held in thewestteaching building of Guanghua Campus. The faculty and staff of the College of International Education, police officers from the QingyangExitand Entry Administration, and more than one hundred new international students attended the ceremony. Li Yi from the Student Affairs’ Office of the College of International Education presided over the ceremony.
On behalf of the College of International Education, Wang Binyu, Dean Assistant of the College of International Education, expressed a warm welcome to all the freshmen of the international students, and in his speech deeply reviewed the development of SWUFE, and placed high hopes for the international students to study in China. Followed by his remarks, Grade 2019 Ph.D. student CAMILLA GAIA MIOTTO from Italy made a speech as the representative of international students, sharing her previous experience in studying for a master's degree in our school, encouraging students to cherish the learning opportunities in SWUFE, and wishing them a smooth life and academic success.
At the opening ceremony, the international students gained a better understanding of Chengdu and the University by watching the short videos. They also learned in detail about the basic situation of the university, important information about campus life, and related rules and regulations. The police officer also highlighted and explained relevant Chinese laws and regulations and precautions for studying in China.
As the "first lesson" for international students, the opening ceremony helps everyone integrate into campus life better and faster, so that new students can feel the international atmosphere of the university, appreciate the Chinese campus culture, and start a new journey of studying in Chengdu more easily. 2019 is not only a celebration year for the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC, but also an important year for the pursuit of SWUFE’s first-class disciplines. The College of International Education shoulders the important mission of opening education to the world, and will continue to develop ideas and innovate methods under the guidance of SWUFE's core strategy of deep opening-up, and achieve greater results in the work of international education.
