On December 10, the inaugural meeting of the SWUFE Alumni Association in Germany (SAAG) was held in Berlin, Germany. Prof. Zhuo Zhi, President of SWUFE, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. More than 50 people, including heads of relevant schools and departments of SWUFE, representatives from our German partner university HWR, and representatives of SWUFE's international alumni in Germany, attended the unveiling ceremony. The Chinese Embassy in Germany congratulated the establishment of SAAG.
The ceremony started amid the solemn national anthems of China and Germany. In his speech, President Zhuo Zhi expressed his warm congratulations on the establishment of SAAG and thanked all the guests and alumni who attended the ceremony. He pointed out that SWUFE attached great importance to the opening up of education and had achieved gratifying results in various fields of international exchanges and cooperation in recent years. Choosing to establish a Sino-German alumni association in Berlin is a summary of the great achievements between SWUFE and Germany. He hoped SAAG could be a solid foothold in Germany, serving the development of our alumni and the university.
Prof. Andreas Zaby, president of our partner university HWR, was invited to deliver a speech. President Zaby highly praised the profound friendship accumulated between the two universities’ 32-year cooperation, and expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of SAAG.
Yang Xu, Director of SWUFE’s Alumni Affairs Office, announced the approval of the establishment and the list of the first secretariat. Then the participants watched SWUFE international promotional video and the Sino-German "Cooperation · Retrospect" short video. Marko Rukavina, first Secretary-General of the Secretariat of SAAG, delivered an inauguration speech. President Zhuo Zhi and Zaby jointly unveiled the plaque for SAAG. President Zhuo Zhi presented the plaque to SAAG on behalf of SWUFE. Liang Ting, Dean of the College of International Education, presented gifts to SAAG, witnessed by Ai Hong, Director of the President’s Office, Zhou Mingshan, Director of the Research Department, and Wang Jue, Dean of the School of International Business. At last, all the participants took a group photo. The conference was successfully concluded in the song of SWUFE.
For a long time, SWUFE has carried out all-round, multi-level and wide-ranging cooperation with German universities and institutions, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding German alumni. Many students of SWUFE has an exchange or degree study and work in Germany. SAAG of SWUFE is the first overseas alumni association in Europe after our alumni association in North American, Thailand and Singapore. It is hoped that SAAG will actively inherit the spirit of "To persistently strive for the benefit of people and society", gather the strength of Chinese and German alumni, help the development of SWUFE, and continuously promote the friendship between the two countries.
