2026 Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Application Information for International Students of Chinese Language Training Program (In-person Teaching

Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) offers Chinese Language Training Programs to international students and reviews applicants’ comprehensive qualities and abilities via “Application-Evaluation Mechanism”. The information is listed below.


I. Program Introduction

SWUFE adopts the teaching mode of a combination of language courses and cultural courses. The specific class hours shall be subject to the teaching arrangement at the time of enrollment, with 16 teaching weeks per semester. Language courses are mainly divided into three categories: elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, and each category is specified separately, including 8 rubrics. Language courses focus on the cultivation of students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, to comprehensively improve their Chinese levels. The new students will be assigned to different classes depending on their placement tests, and each student will have one chance to apply for a change of class level within the first teaching week.

II. Eligibility  

(1) Age limit: be in the age of 16 to 59 by the Registration Day.

(2) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, be in good health, abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and local government as well as regulations of SWUFE, and have no record of violation of laws or regulations.

(3) SWUFE will not provide any assistance with visas before the required Registration Day.


III. Period

1. Spring Semester

Application period: October 15th , 2025 - January 20th , 2026

Class period: March -July 2026

2. Fall Semester

Application period: April 1st -July 31st , 2026

Class period: September 2026 -January 2027


IV. Application Procedures

1. Apply Online

(1) Before the application deadline, applicants shall submit the online application form at SWUFE International Students Service System (http://swufe.17gz.org) and upload all documents as required.

(2) The authenticity and accuracy of personal information and documents should be ensured.

2. Application Fee

(1) Application fee is 600 CNY. Please follow the instruction at SWUFE International Students Service System for online payment.

(2) The application without the application fee will not be processed.

(3) Application fee is not refundable under any circumstance.


V. Supporting Documents

(1) One ID photo taken within 6 months

(2) First page of your passport

The passport shall be in the category of Personal Ordinary Passport. The period of validity shall be at least 6 months from the Registration Day.

(3) Valid visa page

Applicants who are in the Chinese mainland currently should provide a copy of the page of his/her current visa or residence permit.

(4) Transfer letter

Applicants with a learning experience in China shall provide a Transfer Letter or Leaving Certificate issued by the previous school. Contact information of the Student Affairs Office shall be indicated in these certificates.

(5) Physical examination formFilled out in English or Chinese

Please download this form from Attachment 1. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered invalid. Applicants shall provide a physical examination form with a valid result within 6 months.

(6) Guardian’s Letter of GuaranteeFilled out in English or Chinese

Please download this form from Attachment 2. Applicants under the age of 18 must provide this document.

All documents should be presented in Chinese or English. If not, a notarized translated version in Chinese or English is mandatory. Documents without translation in Chinese or English are not valid. If necessary, SWUFE will require applicants to submit extra documents.

(1) Please state the Full Passport Name in your transfer statement and email the statement to international@swufe.edu.cn;

(2) All fees incurred during the bank transfer will be the student’s responsibility. Please make sure all the account information is correct when you make the transfer.


VII. Admission  

1. College of International Education (CIE) of SWUFE will inform applicants of the final results via email in 18 working days, after reviewing applicants’ application forms and supporting documents. Please check your email box regularly.

2. After admission, SWUFE is responsible for issuing the Admission Letter, JW 202 Form, and other documents.

VIII. Basic Requirements

1. During the study period, students shall observe the laws and decrees of China as well as the rules and regulations of SWUFE.

2. Please make sure you have thoroughly read and fully understood the Regulations for International Students, SWUFE and International Students’ Guidebook provided at http://international.swufe.edu.cn/info/1004/1281.htm. SWUFE will take corresponding measures if a student violates related laws, regulations, or rules. The student will take full responsibility for any related consequences.


IX. Other

1. The content above is subject to change based on updated information of China laws and regulations that are relevant to international students.

2. The final explanation of the content above is subject to CIE, SWUFE.

3. Please frequently check the website of CIE for updated information.

4. If fraudulent documents and fraud practices are detected, the qualifications for application, or admission will be abolished immediately according to relevant regulations.
